Introduction to Producing Podcasts
Course Description
This workshop is brought to you by Kiama Community Radio (KCR)
Do you enjoy speaking to interesting people with stories to tell? Podcasts tell stories in sound. Easy to produce and easy to access, a podcast is a medium that reaches audiences of all ages, which is why podcasts have taken the broadcasting world by storm.
The team from KCR will introduce you to the simple tools of broadcasting. You will learn how to plan and structure a program, apply interview techniques, and how to record audio. Above all, you will learn the importance of thoughtful content and delivery in producing a successful podcast. Not only will you learn the basics of producing your own podcast, participants will also have the opportunity to become a volunteer with KCR, be involved in radio and generate exciting new local content.
This course is delivered as a 3 hr workshop, to allow for recording practice and breaks.
Introducing your Podcasting Tutor, Gabi
Gabriela Cabral is an arts manager and community cultural development facilitator with a background in theatre, radio and music.
She has worked for an array of professional theatre companies and arts organisations including the Sydney Opera House and UNESCO’s International Theatre Institute.
Gabriela was introduced to broadcasting at SBS radio, and for six years she produced and presented radio programs at Canberra’s ArtSound FM where she also ran the station’s broadcasting training. Since the foundation of Kiama Community Radio two years ago, Gabriela has been obsessed with its evolution as a valuable community resource.
