Supporting Students Living With Disability
Are you interested in fun and inclusive learning opportunities? The RISE Program of classes is intended for students who have a disability.
RISE stands for Rewarding Inclusive Social Education. Our RISE classes are designed to support students living with a disability to learn skills, have fun, socialise in a recreational setting and to participate in the local community.
Classes are filled with fun and impart life skills such as cooking, photography and using IT and activities such as being creative with art and craft, music and dance, playing games, relaxation and exercise and going on social outings. RISE students are well supported by qualified tutors and staff with qualifications in Disability Services.
Classes are currently held in the evenings at the following locations in 2022:
Mondays - Dapto and Bomaderry
Tuesdays - Bomaderry
Wednesdays - Kiama and Bomaderry
Thursdays - Shell Cove
How to enrol in the RISE program
If you have a NDIS Plan and would like to use some of your available funds to participate in the classes, or if you are due to have a review of your NDIS Plan and would like to know how to have funding included for the RISE Program, call 4232 1050 to express your interest.
What is the cost?
This can vary depending upon the Funding Category available in a student’s NDIS Plan. Classes run for 3 hours and the College charges according to the NDIS Pricing Guide for the Funding category in the Plan. This is fully discussed when a student enrols to attend the RISE Program and establishes a Service Agreement with us.
Current pricing schedule
- Assistance with Social and Community Participation category - (1:3 staff: student ratio) - $26.83ph
- Increased Social and Community Participation category – skill development in a group of 2 or more - $29.26ph
- Students with more complex needs – charged as per the NDIS Price Guide.
The cost of class consumables used in class activities is the responsibility of the student and is not covered by NDIS funding. These costs are invoiced per quarter based on the number of classes attended.
What about transport?
The College does not provide transport between home and the centre based classes so these costs are the responsibility of the participant.
