Adult Literacy Classes

Adult Literacy Classes

At the College, we are committed to a more equal society, accessible learning options, support of the individual, a community focus and professionalism.

Figures from the OECD’s PIAAC survey show that 44% of Australian adults don’t have the literacy skills they need to cope with the demands of everyday life and that 1 in 30 Australians have literacy levels making them vulnerable to unemployment.
It takes courage to seek assistance with literacy.

We are now offering a new literacy class for anyone over the age of 15 who would like to improve their literacy or numeracy for work or life!

Our classes are small, comfortable and encouraging. Each student is supported to achieve their personal goal, whether that is to improve literacy for employment, to read the TV guide or newspaper, or to become the secretary of a local club.

If you know someone that could benefit from our Adult Literacy classes, please encourage them to call or visit our friendly team.

“Before I came to the College I could read very little and as a mature adult this made me feel very self conscious. After just one year my reading has improved so that I am now able to do things like read the TV Guide and find names in my mobile phone. These may be basic things for many people but they are big things for me. It is never too late to start learning.”  - College Student
